Household Manager

Are you an experienced manager who may have spent time working in a five star or luxury lodge setting?

This pivotal management position will be responsible for running the Household of the Governor-General including the management of staff and budget.

Government House supports the Governor-General in his ceremonial, constitutional and community roles through the provision of high quality advice and support.

Government House is part of the department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet which occupies a unique position at the centre of New Zealand's government. It provides advice and support to the Prime Minister, Cabinet and the Governor-General.

After almost a century of use, Government House Wellington is undergoing a conservation project that, while respecting heritage values, will meet modern building standards and the needs of a 21st Century Governor-General.

A review of Government House staffing structure was recently undertaken to assess what management and operations resources would deliver an appropriate level of service to Their Excellencies. The review highlighted that new ways of working are required from Government House staff and the position of this new role of Household Manager is critical to help develop these.

Are you an experienced manager who may have spent time working in a five star or luxury lodge setting? Are you able to provide the highest level of service, discretion and efficiency? Have you got excellent people and problem solving skills? Do you have the energy and enthusiasm required for this integral role?

This pivotal management position will be responsible for running the Household of the Governor-General including the management of staff and budget. Excellence in service and exceptional performance are required to ensure high quality support to Their Excellencies.

Key tasks or responsibilities:
- Household management
- Staff Management
- Ensure Maitre D' service is well managed
- Financial and budgetary management of the Household

We would like to hear from suitably qualified people, who are experienced in the management of high-quality accommodation, either from New Zealand or overseas. Excellent inter-personal and representation skills are integral for this position and, the ability to travel when requested.
